Discovering an Abruzzo territory, frentania area, still full of culture and strong culinary traditions, savoring food and tasting wine, deepening history and roots of our great region.
Day 1 – Ortona
Arrival in the afternoon, meeting with one of our representatives and hotel accommodation in Ortona or surroundings area hotel. Free time. Supper and overnight accommodation.
Day 2 – San Vito Chietino – Lanciano – Trabocchi Coast – Vasto
Full board, departure for San Vito Chietino and short tour of the characteristic borough, enjoyable walk to the historic centre, where we can visit the splendid open-air theatre “Dei Due Pini” as far as famous lookout whith fantastic view on San Vito Marina and the Trabocchi coast. The tour continues to Lanciano. After the tasting of its local sweet “il Bocconotto”, visit of the frentanian town with its famous Fenaroli Theatre (only from outside), the Santa Croce Church where the second eucharistic miracle is kept and the st. Blaise’s Church dating back to the year 1000 etc. brunch with typical products. Departure for Vasto with several panoramic stops along the route. Arrival and walk to become more familiar with the antique frentanian roots of the town. Visit of the Caldoresco Castle (only from outside), piazza Rossetti, palazzo D’Avalos (only from outside), the St. Joseph Cathedral and the Santa Maria Maggiore Church. Supper at a restaurant with local dish of excellence: the “brodetto di pesce alla vastese”(vastese fish soup). Return to hotel. Overnight stay.
Day 3 – Farm Experience – Ortona
Breakfast. Visit a local didactic farm, considered to be one of the last testimonials of the agricultural heritage of the area. Lunch with traditional dishes which remind us of “i sapori della nonna” or “grandma’s flavours”. Return to hotel. In late afternoon visit Ortona and its precious corners with a break at the Abruzzo regional wine-bar. Dinner in a restaurant featuring the local delicacy “arrosticini” and a taste of the local Ortona sweet “la Nevola”. Dinner in restaurant with “arrosticini” (grilled skewered pieces of meat). Return to hotel and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Guardiagrele – Trabocchi Coast
Departure to Guardiagrele, engraver and coppersmith home, walk through the historic centre with rest in a bakery for tasting of the typical sweet “Sise delle Monache”(made up of two layers of soft sponge cake filled with custard). Tasting in a winehouse. Return to the hotel. Free time. In the evening departure for supper on one of the abruzzese Trabocchi coast. Return to the hotel and overnight accommodation.
Day 5 – End of services
Breakfast and check out.
